HVOF Screw and Barrel

Our HVOF (High-Velocity Oxygen Fuel) Screw and Barrel system sets the benchmark for extreme wear resistance. By applying a dense, metallurgically bonded tungsten carbide or ceramic coating via HVOF thermal spraying, we provide an armor-like surface that dramatically outlasts conventional treatments in the most abrasive extrusion environments.

This technology represents a significant advancement in surface engineering for extrusion components. The HVOF process propels powder particles at supersonic speeds onto the meticulously prepared surfaces of screw flights and barrel bores. Upon impact, the particles deform and form a dense, layered coating with exceptional bond strength and minimal porosity. The resulting surface, rich in ultra-hard tungsten carbide or chromium carbide ceramics, offers dramatically improved resistance to abrasive wear, adhesion (material sticking), and mild corrosion. Unlike chrome plating, this coating does not risk peeling or chipping under high mechanical stress. This solution can be custom-applied to critical wear zones, preserving the underlying steel's toughness while providing a protective shield. It extends service life by multiples when processing highly abrasive composites like long-glass-fiber reinforced thermoplastics, mineral-filled engineering plastics, or recycled materials containing contaminants, thereby reducing downtime and total cost of ownership significantly.

Essential for processing highly abrasive composites such as long-glass-fiber reinforced plastics (LFT), carbon-fiber compounds, heavily filled engineering plastics (e.g., PPS, PPA), and recycled materials containing abrasive contaminants.
