Our Best-Selling Other Screws and Barrels
Planetary Screw and Barrel
Engineered for ultra-homogeneous mixing and gentle heat transfer, our Planetary Screw and Barrel System features a central screw surrounded by multiple planetary screws. This design achieves unparalleled dispersion and devolatilization efficiency, making it the ideal choice for heat-sensitive, high-viscosity materials and precision color compounding.
Screw Elements for Twin Screw Extruder
Our Modular Twin-Screw Extruder System, built on the principle of screw elements and segmented barrels, offers ultimate flexibility and precision for complex compounding and extrusion tasks. Unlike fixed-design extruders, this “building-block” approach allows you to construct a custom process line by configuring specific screw profiles and barrel segments, perfectly adapting to evolving material science and diverse production goals.
Compounding Twin Screw for Extruder
Our Compounding Twin Screw is the engineered core of high-performance mixing, designed to disperse fillers, blend polymers, and incorporate additives with maximum efficiency. It delivers the intense yet controllable shear necessary to achieve perfect material homogeneity in masterbatch, alloy, and reinforced compound production.

Screw: A planetary roller screw consists of a precision threaded screw and nut, similar to a ball or lead screw assembly. The screw and nut have a 90 degree thread profile, with multiple starts to accommodate the rollers.
Roller: Rather than recirculating balls, the load-bearing elements of a planetary screw are threaded rollers. The rollers have the same thread profile as the nut, and provide many more contact points for a given size than can be achieved when balls are used as the load-bearing elements.
Planetary: The ends of the rollers are toothed and mesh with geared rings at each end of the nut. Proper spacing of the rollers is ensured by guide rings that support the rollers' end journals. This allows the rollers (also called planets) to orbit the nut as they spin on their axes, hence the term planetary.

Types of Planetary Screw and Barrel
Types of planetary screw and barrels include standard roller (planetary) screws, inverted planetary screw and barrels, and recirculating planetary screw and barrels. Standard planetary screw and barrels are also known as non-recirculating planetary screw and barrels, due to the lack of axial movement of the roller in relation to the nut.
Inverted planetary screw and barrels, also known as reverse planetary screw and barrels, lack axial movement much like the standard planetary screw and barrel as they were developed together. Inverted planetary screw and barrels share other similarities with standard planetary screw and barrels, except that the function of the nut and screw is reversed in relation to the rollers. In these planetary screw and barrels, the rollers move axially within an elongated nut. The threaded part of the screw shaft can only travel as far as the threaded length of the rollers.
Recirculating planetary screw and barrels, or recycling planetary screw and barrels, provide a high degree of accuracy with minimal thread leads. The rollers in these screws re-circulate axially within the nut until they are reset after one orbit around the screw. Recirculating planetary screw and barrels have very fine, identical single or two-start threads. The rollers are grooved, opposed to threaded, which moves them axially with the angled threads of the nut and screw.

Benefits of Screw Elements for Twin Screw Extruder
Flexibility in screw design for different materials and processes
Improved mixing and melting performance
Better control over residence time and shear history
Easy maintenance and replacement of individual elements

The design of Screw elements needs to consider various factors, including material characteristics, processing conditions, and product requirements. Designers continuously enhance the performance of Screw elements through precise calculations of Screw angles, depths, and spacing, as well as by adopting new materials and coating technologies. For example, using wear-resistant materials can reduce maintenance costs and extend the service life of the equipment; special coatings can reduce material adhesion, keeping Screw elements clean and efficient.
Characteristics of Screw Elements for Twin Screw Extruder
Modular design allows for customization of screw configuration
Can be made from various materials (e.g., tool steel, stainless steel) with different surface treatments
Available in different geometries and sizes to suit various applications
Common Applications of Screw Elements for Twin Screw Extruder
Screw Conveyors
In material handling systems, screw conveyors use screw elements to move materials (powders, granules, etc.) from one place to another. The helical design allows for efficient transportation of bulk materials.
Extruders
In plastic processing and manufacturing, extruders use screw elements to push and shape molten plastic through a die to create various forms, such as sheets, tubes, or profiles.
Screw Pumps
Screw pumps use screw elements to generate flow and pump fluids. The rotating screw elements help in pushing the fluid through the pump.
Injection Molding Machines
In the context of injection molding, screw elements are part of the screw that melts and conveys the plastic material into the mold.
1. Conveying Elements:
- Transport material forward
- Come in different pitches for varying conveying rates
2. Kneading Elements:
- Mix and disperse materials
- Can be configured for forward, neutral, or reverse conveying
3. Mixing Elements:
- Provide distributive or dispersive mixing
- Examples include mixers and pineapple mixing elements
4. Compression Elements:
- Increase pressure and density of the material
5. Reverse Elements:
- Create a melt seal and increase residence time
6. Gear Elements:
- Provide high shear mixing

Synergistic Optimization of Screw Elements for Twin Screw Extruder
To achieve optimal extrusion effects, Screw elements need to work synergistically with other components of the twin-screw extruder (such as heating and cooling systems, drive systems, etc.). By precisely controlling temperature and pressure, the stability and uniformity of materials during the extrusion process can be ensured. Meanwhile, through real-time monitoring and intelligent control systems, the working state of Screw elements can be automatically adjusted according to material changes, achieving efficient and flexible production.
Customization Services
To meet the varying processing requirements of different applications, we provide customized solutions for other screws and barrels. Screw structure, barrel configuration, material grade, surface hardening treatment, dimensions, and technical specifications can be customized based on processing materials, equipment models, and operating conditions.
