Precautions for Selecting and Maintaining Bimetallic Screws

To fully utilize the performance of bimetallic screws and extend their service life, proper selection and maintenance are crucial:

 

1. Reasonable Selection: Not all situations require the use of high-specification bimetallic screws. The appropriate alloy material and cladding thickness should be selected based on factors such as the characteristics of the material being processed (abrasiveness, corrosiveness), production requirements, and cost budget. Overly pursuing high performance may lead to unnecessary cost increases.

 

2. Matching Barrel: Bimetallic screws typically require a barrel that has also undergone strengthening treatment (such as bimetallic bushings). If the barrel material is soft, the hard screw threads will accelerate barrel wear, creating a "mismatch" and negatively impacting overall performance.

 

3. Standardized Installation and Operation: During installation, ensure proper alignment of the screw and barrel to avoid uneven wear. Sufficient preheating is necessary before startup. During operation, prevent foreign metal objects from falling into the barrel and avoid sudden overload; these measures all help protect the screw.

 

4. Regular Inspection and Maintenance: Periodically stop the machine to inspect the screw for wear and measure critical dimensions. Minor wear can be repaired by polishing. Establishing a preventative maintenance plan can help identify potential problems in a timely manner and avoid production interruptions caused by sudden failures.
